Maintenance Lead (Nights)

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Assigns work to meet daily priorities.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and facilities.
  • Performs diagnosis, testing, disassembly, inspecting, repair and re-assembly of plant equipment or components such as hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, hydraulic shear, vacuum equipment, roller leveler, cranes, etc.
  • Performs skilled trouble shooting and servicing of pneumatic and hydraulic components.
  • Performs proper replacement and/or adjustment of mechanical clutches, drive trains, etc.
  • Repairs worn parts, straightens and fabricates fixtures (welding, cutting, brazing, and surface hardening applications).
  • Performs housekeeping and other routine tasks as directed.
  • Assists maintenance personnel and operators in proper direction of equipment repairs. Provides cross training opportunities to ensure appropriate skill base
  • Records labor and material used on each repair made.
  • Operates lift equipment (cranes, booms, manlifts, cherry picker, etc.) in safe manner.
  • Assists supervisor to optimize use of personnel, materials and equipment to achieve production requirements within the financial plan, reduce scrap & down time and meet goals.
  • Creates a team environment based on mutual dignity and respect.
  • Helps ensure machinery, tools and equipment are in good working order, assists in solving quality problems, performs data collection, monitors process and product control as identified.
  • Communicates to appropriate personnel any unusual operating conditions.
  • Ensures all company policies, procedures and safety practices are being followed.
  • Observes and documents employee performance for the supervisor as requested
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Three years Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with major and general repairs on a variety of equipment.
  • Leadership experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Able to analyze and evaluate construction documents including drawings, specifications and contracts.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and other industry computer applications.
  • Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals. Convert inch to metric.
  • Able to read and comprehend basic hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural schematics.
  • Able to use gauging equipment from .001" up, dial indicators, micrometers, feeler gauges, etc.
  • Must be able to climb (heights to 40'), lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds, grasp, bend, kneel, crawl, stretch/reach, and able to work in confined areas and awkward positions.
  • Diligent at all times to work safely, and to follow safe working practices, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and other safety procedures.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to multi-task, have strong English communications skills (reading, writing, and speaking) and ability to lead and motivate employees.
  • Must learn how to effectively use the Epicor/Vantage computer system to report data, check job schedules, inventory levels, routings, bill of materials, as well as, train new and existing employees
  • Occasionally will be called during irregular hours to handle production coverage with little or no supervision.

Machine Operator - Plasma

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Reads daily workloads to determine what parts and shafts are required, and prioritizes according to constraint and shipping buffers.
  • Determines what materials are needed, checks materials on hand, and orders any other materials needed from stores.
  • Instructs material handler on what material to load and/or unload, which material to return to stores, how to load table to maximize productivity.
  • Checks material for grade, thickness, and size.
  • Color-codes parts as required per routing.
  • Reads prints, determines tolerances, and checks parts against prints to ensure quality of parts being cut. Based on the appearance and quality of parts being produced, makes appropriate adjustments to the processes, such as travel speed, tip size, tip replacement, gas pressures, kerf compensation, torch height, and other factors as needed to produce the desired quality.
  • Performs all functions associated with operation of the CNC shape cutting machine. Start-up and shutdown procedures. Transfer of programs to and from the host computer, setting up the programs to produce required parts, originating programs from standard shapes, modifying programs from oxy-fuel to plasma and from plasma to oxy-fuel, adjusting kerf settings.
  • Understands all functions on CNC, i.e. plasma cutting tips/nozzle size and speed charts, oxy-fuel cutting tips and gas pressures, kerf settings, amperage settings, standard shapes, keyboard to computer, and appropriate instruction manuals.
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly operator preventive maintenance.
  • Communicates problems with CNC shape cutter or any other equipment to lead man, supervisor, and/or maintenance to ensure problem resolution.
  • Uses knowledge of the machine and its characteristics to assist maintenance personnel in maintaining and trouble shooting its system.
  • Uses and understands measuring instruments, i.e. tape measure, level, protractor, and micrometer.
  • Determines optimum plate utilization to minimize scrap.
  • Maintains housekeeping in assigned areas.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to or learn how to read a tape measure.

      • Demonstrates proficiency in product knowledge, its applications and all related job functions.
      • Checks inventory levels (shortages) to ensure warehouses stay stocked.

      Material Handler

      Sioux City, IA

      Responsibilities:
      • Safely operate forklift, pallet jack, overhead crane and other transportation equipment.
      • Continually and safely load and unload all trucks, flatbeds, and other deliveries.
      • Stock and move materials by occasionally exerting up to 75 pounds of physical force and routinely up to 30 pounds of physical force and have the ability to climb and descend ladders, platforms and scaffolding.

        Site Acquisition Specialist

        Responsibilities:
        • Maintain and complete all assigned project documents, in accordance with the Customer and Sabre established guidelines.
        • Travel with overnight stays to visit active job sites and customers on regular basis.
        • Coordination, management, and development of leasing, zoning and permitting tasks using best industry practice and conforming to customer requirements.
        • Self-perform leasing, zoning, and permitting tasks as needed.
        • Identify, coordinate, complete, submit, and track any applications, third party forms, or Customer forms as needed for leasing, zoning, and permitting.
        • Secure leasing, master lease, zoning and permits in any jurisdiction or municipality.

        Responsibilities:
        • Continuance and new establishment of working relationships with customers that are awarding work to Sabre.
        • Develop a strong working relationship with each customer's decision makers in order to maximize new opportunities and revenue. Manage collaboratively with the Sabre sales team relating to new business and escalate to the appropriate individuals at the region and at corporate levels (i.e., sales, business development)

        CNC Machine Operator

        Responsibilities:
        • Operates CNC machine to produce component parts.
        • Daily required maintenance of machine and required trouble shooting skills.
        • Uses common shop mathematics to compute required angles and dimensions.
        • Reads tape measure, angle finder, and other necessary measuring devices.
        • Reads blueprints and flat sheets to lay out work within tolerances to ensure accuracy and to meet required specifications and department quality standards.
        • Uses overhead bridge cranes to load and unload machine, requiring acceptable levels of eye, hand and foot coordination.
        • Adjusts settings on the machine to ensure proper positions meet tolerances and various specifications.
        • Reads and understands labor reporting system, and uses same to report work accomplished, as well as any needed shop or productivity reports.
        • Uses all necessary safety equipment and procedures, to prevent injury to himself/herself or other personnel.

        Parts Coordinator

        Alvarado, TX

        Responsibilities:
        • Assists machine operators, welders, and other personnel in loading/unloading, transporting raw, in-process, and finished materials throughout the facility.
        • Must be able to accurately identify raw material needed to supply to production.
        • Uses 36,000lb forklifts and other heavy equipment such as cranes to move various sizes of steel plates and poles.
        • Coordinates incoming and outgoing parts.
        • Responsible for ensuring correct parts are issued for jobs ordered and substitutions are recorded.
        • Keeps hardware tracking accurate and up-to-date.
        • Communicates with multiple departments regarding hardware status.
        • Prepares hardware for distribution according to shipping schedule.
        • Moves in-process and finished poles to appropriate area in yard.
        • Performs safety routine inspections prior to operating equipment.
        • Abides by all Safety Standards and Policies including use of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

        Requirements:
        • At least one year of forklift driving and/or crane/heavy equipment experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
        • Ability to read blueprints required.
        • Basic Math skills required.
        • Experience with Hardware Coordination preferred.
        • Experience with MS Office such as Word and Excel.
        • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and attention to detail are important.

        Production Equipment Operator

        Alvarado, TX

        Responsibilities:
        • Assists machine operators, welders, and other personnel in loading/unloading, transporting raw, in-process, and finished materials throughout the facility
        • Uses 36,000lb forklifts and other heavy equipment such as cranes to move various sizes of steel plates and poles
        • Coordinates incoming and outgoing parts
        • Responsible for ensuring correct parts are issued for jobs ordered and substitutions are recorded
        • Keeps hardware tracking accurate and up to date
        • Communicates with multiple departments regarding hardware status
        • Prepares hardware for distribution according to shipping schedule
        • Moves in-process and finished poles to appropriate area in yard

        Requirements:

        Machine Operator

        Responsibilities:
        • Read and interpret production drawings
        • Uses shop mathematics, including decimals, complex fractions, and simple algebra to lay out various products of the unit, and determining various cutting depths, feed rates, and revolution per minute
        • Operates upright drill presses, CNC machining center, radial arm drill, and hand drills
        • Uses measuring instruments such as a protractor, framing square, tape measure, tri-square, center finder, levers, scribes, calipers, and drill gauges to fabricate various products of the unit
        • Understands material requirements and specifications as stated on blue prints and drawings
        • Decides through the use of learned solutions the sequence of set ups, operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized methods and procedures for completing work in process according to work schedules and constraint and shipping buffers
        • Coordinates with other personnel in the small parts area to ensure the proper sequence of operations to be performed on specific parts to maintain work loads
        • Maintains housekeeping in work area, and on all machines used
        • Performs operator preventive maintenance on equipment, and informs supervisor and/or lead man of any breakdowns or damage of equipment or parts
        • Write new programs and modify existing programs on a personal computer using CNC machining G-codes and word processing software, including transferring programs between the machining center and the personal computer
        • Uses a digraph metal marker to write the individual part number specified on shop packet to the actual part for identification purposes
        • Stacks completed parts and shop packets neatly on a wooden pallet according to part number and quantity. Assures parts are stacked neat and safe on pallet and moves the pallet to the “out area” or to the next designated work center using a pallet jack
        • Reads and interprets work orders and daily production schedules. Writes entries on daily shop production labor report to show work completed
        • Maintains housekeeping in assigned areas
        • Responsible for safety and environmental issues regarding assigned area, i.e. material handling of material, crane use, vacuum lift use, cutting torch, hot parts, lifting weight limits, proper eye protection, and proper level in water table to minimize smoke generated during cutting process

        Requirements:
        • Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals

        Responsibilities:
        Taking applications for classes starting mid-September
        • Manually positions pole assembly in pole rollers into proper position for welding.  Reads and interprets drawings (including weld symbols) and specifications to determine proper location of attachments, as well as weld size and configuration.
        • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses tables to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
        • Adjust welding machines to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures. Frequently pushes pulls and lifts up to 50 pounds.
        • Uses GMAC or FCAW welding process to weld small components or assemblies.
        • Uses chipping hammer, wire brush, motorized grinders, and motorized wire brush at various times to clean welded areas.
        • Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill carious size holes on pole assembly as required by drawings and specifications.
        • Uses a weld gauge to measure weld size, standard and metric.

          • Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly
          • Frequently pushes, pulls, and lifts up to 50 lbs
          • Read and interpret drawings to assure proper location of various small part attachments
          • Layout various locations on round tube or formed shaft based upon interpretation of drawings and specifications

          • Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel
          • Uses jigs made at Sabre/Texas for laying out vang slots and for cutting holes in shafts for inserting hand hole rims, arm mounting simplex, couplings, and other small parts
          • Moves around round tube or formed shaft as necessary to get into proper position to accurately measure and assemble components described above including standing on elevated platform when necessitated by the size of the shafts
          • Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawing
          • Wears protective face shield and safety glasses to protect eyes and face
          • Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures by changing tips, ceramic cups, and electrodes in plasma torch as needed to achieve
          • Uses chipping hammer, wire brush, motorized grinder, and motorized wire brush at various times to clean welded area
          • Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill and ream various sizes holes in poles as required by the drawing
          • Wears protective equipment, including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, welding cap, leather sleeves, and/or cape, and welding hood for protection against hot metal, arc rays, and grinding debris
          • Performs visual inspecting and identifies material discrepancies to assure welds have been completed satisfactorily in compliance with applicable drawings and specifications
          • Uses a weld gauge to measure weld size

          Requirements:
          • Recent experience working with Quality Control in a welding/manufacturing environment preferred
          • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in all types of weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, and cold
          • Must possess strong English verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to build relationships with co-workers and other internal customers
          • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced team environment
          • Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and quality manuals, blue prints, and design drawings along with proficiency to use and understand measuring and testing equipment
